Choosing A Content Management System

15 October 2008 12 views No Comment

I use to write my webpages using notepad. Yes, line by line coding, totally ridiculous. I now use many different CMS’s (content management systems). Basically an easy way to build and maintain a website. I’ll explain and post about the different CMS software’s available in another post.

I chose the WordPress blog platform for the main site of deindexed.com.
Why WordPress?

  • Its free! wordpress
  • Wordpress has many features and plugins
  • Search engines love wordpress blogs
  • Easy to maintain and manage
  • The code is clean
  • The admin panel runs fast, other cms software seems slow

Basically for yourself you need to decide what features you will need to develop your website. Other free content management systems that are popular: Joomla.com, Mambo.com, PostNuke.com

Most webhosts have many that you can install easily and are including with your hosting package. The webhost I use for this blog has fantistico which will install wordpress with basically just a click, but I downloaded the latest WordPress version fron the main site and installed it my self, estimated time was less than 15 minutes.

My host still had an earlier version available for install and I wanted to use the latest version.
