What to Do When Your Website Gets Deindexed by Google
Your website can no longer be found in Google’s index? Should you panic or make a plan? What steps should you follow? Here are three simple instructions that may help having your site indexed again. Tips that may help your search traffic return to your website.
1. Create a free webmaster account with Google tools: Google Webmasters Tools
Add your website to Google Webmaster Tools, use the diagnostics links to browse errors and problems encountered by Google’s spiders. The information is free. They also offer a link for submitting a reinclusion request. Only ask for reinclusion after you fix any problems and follow Google’s Submission Guidelines.
2. Let Google know where your sitemap is located by adding it to your new webmaster tools account. Your sitemap.xml page should be placed in your website’s root directory. Many content management systems and web hosts offer a free tool to create the sitemaps easily, if yours does not, just search “google sitemap creator” on any search engine and many sites will be listed for you to use.
3. Submit your reinclusion request using the link located within your webmasters tool account. Don’t bore them with a long winding explanation, just state what you changed and what you will do to prevent any problems in the future.
I know these are just simple steps to follow after your site gets deindexed, but some action is bettor than doing nothing. The alternative is to buy a new domain name and start over. For more detailed explanations go to Google Webmasters Tools.
